Our People

We know that our people are at the heart of what we do. We employ over 800 people, all of whom play an integral role in in our business. We recognise the importance of the people that not only work within our business but also in our wider value chain. Within our business, Diversity & Inclusion, Health and Safety and Wellbeing, and Learning & Development are key focus areas. We are also committed to playing an active role within our local communities.

The People Pillar within our Environmental, Social and Governance and Responsible Business strategy is very much aligned with our People Strategy. We believe strong, empowered people are the core of our success, past and future. Across the entire company, how we work is the same. As a family company, we take a long view to investing in our people. Striving and family values are at the heart of all we do. Like a family, we take pride in what we all do to grow a sustainable future for ourselves, our people, customers, and communities – all our relationships.

At Kilsaran, we prioritise the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees, encompassing physical, mental, and emotional aspects to create positive work environments. In 2021, we established a wellbeing framework that includes an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) in partnership with VHi, providing support to individuals facing personal and work-related challenges. We’ve also invested in Mental Health First Aiders training and organized various wellbeing events, such as World Mental Health Day and Financial Fitness, as part of our ongoing commitment.

In 2023, we launched a Workplace Wellbeing Campaign, accessible through the Inclusio platform, with the aim of engaging our employees in brief, daily activities that promote wellbeing. We’re dedicated to continuing these initiatives and actively seek feedback to enhance our current programs and plan for new ones.

Goal Zero

Our “Goal Zero” initiative, initiated in 2021, places a strong emphasis on safety and communication. We encourage our employees to report incidents or accidents, making safety a top priority across various aspects of our operations, including health and safety, quality, production, and sustainability. In 2022, we achieved significant hours of Health and Safety (H&S) training and proudly reduced lost time incidents by 37%.

We are committed to supporting communities and charitable organizations by contributing construction materials, participating in events, and sponsoring local initiatives. Our support extends to charities like Barretstown, Laura Lynn, Temple Street, and Pieta House, aligning with our core values and priorities.

Cultivating a learning culture is fundamental to us. We invest in Executive Education, forge partnerships with external organizations for development activities, and offer graduate programs and apprenticeships. These initiatives are aimed at attracting, retaining, and nurturing talent within our organization. Our goal is to increase annual student placements and graduate opportunities by 50% by 2025, while expanding our apprenticeship programs into diverse fields.
